The day begins with a visit to the place where European civilization originated – the Minoan Palace of Knossos with a local guide – with translation into Bulgarian. According to legend, under the palace was the labyrinth in which the dreaded Minotaur was imprisoned. The Minoan Palace is the main attraction in Knossos, a city of considerable importance in antiquity, which was mainly inhabited during the Neolithic period. The palace was built on Kefala Hill, with easy access to the sea. Excavations of the palace began as early as the time of Sir Arthur Evans in 1900, and it was then that the palace and its adjacent buildings were uncovered, which were the centre of the coolutra during the Bronze Age.

After Knossos Palace you will have the opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion (you enter independently, without a guide). It is one of the oldest and most important museums in Greece and one of the most famous in Europe. It is the museum with the richest collection of Minoan art in the whole world. It houses exhibits from all periods of Cretan civilization, covering a chronological period of over 5500 years from Neolithic to Roman times.

After the visit to the museum, we will see the main sights of Heraklion – St. Mark’s Basilica and St. Tito’s Church, the square with the famous Morosini Fountain and we will pass through the Venetian Loggia, today the present Municipality. You will be able to visit the central market where you will immerse yourself in the typical Cretan atmosphere. Free time for lunch, shopping and photos. Afternoon collection at the hotels.

Lasithi Plateau – one of the most beautiful places on the island, located in the Dictys Mountains 850 meters above sea level. A plateau that in the past has impressed with its 10,000 windmills and incredible scenery. It is the largest and highest plateau of Greece. The first stop of our tour is at the Panagia Gyvernotisa Monastery, a beautiful monastery with an old history. Built in the 10th century after the liberation of Crete from the Arabs. Then we will visit the village of Krasi, in the center of which we will have the opportunity to see the centuries old oak tree, the largest old tree on Crete. The excursion continues with a visit to the monastery of Kera Kardiotissa with the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, and frescoes from the 13th and 14th centuries. Our next stop is the Eco Park of Lacintos, a traditional Cretan village that will introduce us to the life and traditions of the local population. Here we will see a working loom, the process of candle making, potter’s wheels and mountain honey and herbs. Possibility for lunch. You will have the opportunity for free tasting of olive oil, brandy, honey, liqueurs, wines, cheeses, olive paste. We will finish the program with a visit to the village of Mohos, where we will stroll through picturesque streets and have a cup of traditional Greek coffee. Afternoon collection at the hotels.

Spinalonga Island (full day excursion)

After breakfast, we drive towards the town of Elounda, visiting the medieval monastery of St. George. From the port of Elounda, we will travel by boat to Kolokita beach, a small sandy beach nestled among the rocks with crystal clear waters. There we will spend about 1.5-2h. After beaching, we will head again by boat to Spinalonga Island, one of the iconic landmarks of the area, located in the waters of Mirabelo Bay. We will explore with a local guide the largest and oldest Venetian fortress in Crete with preserved architecture from the Venetian and Ottoman periods. Lunch included on the ship – salad, steak, bread, 1 glass of wine or soft drink, fruit. After lunch we return to the town of Elounda. Last stop of our program is Agios Nikolaos, where we will have the opportunity to shop and explore the town. Free time. Afternoon collection at the hotels.

Our first stop is picturesque Rethymno, located between Chania and Heraklion. We will explore the picturesque streets of the old town, one of the best preserved Renaissance towns in Greece, combining the oriental aspect of Ottoman rule with Renaissance Venetian architecture, the Venetian Lighthouse, the fountain of Rimundi and the Square of the Little Asians. Free time for walking, shopping, photos. On the way to Chania we will make a stop at the Agia Triada Monastery- a Venetian monastery with about 4000 years of history. We arrive in the beautiful town of Chania, called the picturesque town – the pearl of Crete. Built on the ruins of ancient Cydonia, an ancient city from the time of the Minoan civilization, the city has survived many invasions. We will explore the old town, the old port with the lighthouse, the Enichar Mosque. And here the Romans, Byzantines, Venetians and Ottomans created the multicultural flavour of Chania that we can enjoy today. Free time for lunch and a walk. On the way to the hotels we will make a short stop for coffee, souvenirs and photos at Lake Kurnas. Evening arrival.

Santorini, also called Thira, is essentially what remains after a huge volcanic eruption that destroyed the earliest settlements and created the current geological caldera. We’ll explore the capital city of Fira with its typical Cycladic white houses with blue doors and squatters, narrow winding streets filled with shops, restaurants, cafes. Free time for lunch. We can’t miss the picturesque town of Iia, located in the northwest of Santorini. It offers a magnificent view of the islands of Palea and Nea Kameni. Evening pick up at the hotels.

The beach is surrounded by a protected area with tall eucalyptus trees, reeds and palm trees, home to various rare birds. Beach time about 2 hours. After beaching, we will visit the picturesque village of Kritsa, one of the oldest villages in Crete with a rich history, where we will walk along the narrow cobblestone streets with traditional whitewashed houses, coloured doors and windows. The atmosphere is filled with the scent of blooming flowers. Local craftsmen will show us the preserved centuries-old traditions of glassmaking, pottery and weaving.
