Visitors to Cuba should refrain from engaging in any commercial activity when travelling on a tourist visa. For business travel, a business visa must be obtained in advance. Cultural events also require a cultural visa.

Bulgarian citizens must have a visa issued by the relevant Cuban embassy or a tourist card, which can be obtained from tour operators when purchasing a travel package.
It is necessary that 72 hours prior to travel all passengers register at www.dviajeros.mitrans.gov.cu/inicio where they will receive a QR code which must be presented to border authorities on arrival. Without it, access to the country may be denied.

The passport must be valid for six months from entry into the country. It is advisable to have at least two blank pages for affixing the appropriate stamps. Copy of passports.

Cuba does not recognise dual nationality. Bulgarian citizens with Cuban citizenship should enter Cuba with their Cuban passport. They must show a valid Bulgarian passport to leave Cuba.

Cuban authorities remind that the use of US dollars in the country for cash payments is prohibited. Payments are permitted in several freely convertible currencies – Canadian dollar, euro, pound sterling, Japanese yen and Mexican peso. You can also pay in Cuban pesos – CUP. A system of pre-paid cards with internationally convertible currency – MLC (1 USD = 1 MLC), which can be purchased at exchange offices at airports, ports, hotels and tourist areas, has also been introduced. With these cards, tourists can pay for services in Cuba. The validity period of the cards is two years. Upon leaving the country, amounts on them that have not been spent can be refunded to the bearers if they so wish.

Practical tips:

Telephone connections are problematic and often unreliable. Calls, including to important institutions, may go unanswered. Due to technical problems, you may be connected to a number other than the one you have dialed. Reliable mobile connectivity exists in major cities. Usually, cards from Bulgarian mobile operators work in Cuba if they are adapted to North American standards and have roaming. In Cuba, the American standard for electrical voltage is 110 volts. However, there are also 220 volts in the large hotel chains.
Tap water in Cuba is not drinkable and cannot be used to make ice unless it has been boiled first. Bottled mineral or spring water should be drunk. Raw fruits and vegetables should not be eaten without being washed. It is not recommended to buy food offered by street vendors.

IMPORTANT:

BONUS package MAXIMUM SECURITY

In the event of early termination of the contract at the initiative of the TRAVELER, the amount paid by him or on his behalf shall be refunded through the travel agent who concluded the travel package contract with the TRAVELER on behalf and at the expense of the tour operator, when the TRAVELER is unable to start and complete the trip due to any of the following reasons, which was unforeseeable at the time of conclusion of the travel package contract and occurred before the date of departure regardless of the will of the traveler:

1.1.Accident, Acute Illness (an illness which arises suddenly and unforeseeably, poses a danger to the life or health of the traveller and requires urgent medical intervention) or sudden exacerbation of a chronic illness of a TRAVELLER under the Package Contract, excluding a COVID 19 illness, provided that hospital or home treatment is in progress at the start date of the trip and there is a risk of his/her health deteriorating from the trip.
1.2. Sudden illness or accident of a relative of the TRAVELLER (spouse), relative in the direct line – without organs or in the consanguineous line – up to the second degree incl.), provided that on the starting date of the trip hospital or home treatment is being carried out and the traveller has to take care of the sick person.
