"Tirana - the capital of Albania".
Tirana is the largest city in Albania, located on the banks of the Ishmi River and its capital since 1920. After the overthrow of the regime of Enver Hoxha, the city quickly changed dynamically and became a commercial and tourist centre. New buildings of aluminium and glass rise next to old mosques and monuments in the city centre, many cafes and boutiques are located mainly in the Block area- the place where Enver Hoxha lived and was once outside the city. The central square is named after Skenderbeg, a national hero who managed to achieve Albania's independence from the Ottoman Empire in a short time. Our introduction to the Albanian capital will begin with a bird's eye view and a cable car ride up the Daiti Mountain with the longest cable car line in the Balkans at nearly 5 km. In just 15 minutes, at 1000 meters above sea level, we reach the second station, from which we can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the "Balcony of Daiti". We continue to the central part of Tirana for a combined bus and walking tour: see (from the outside): the old clock tower, the colourful Ethem Bey Mosque, the Parliament, the central square with the monument of Skenderbeg, the buildings of the ministries, the National History Museum, the Opera House, the former mausoleum and residence of Enver Hoxha, the Bunker Museum, the Sky centre Free time for independent walking and museum sightseeing. Full day excursion to Apollonia and the resort of Vlora.
Travelling south from Durres we will visit the Apollonia Illyria complex - the remains of an ancient Greek city - before lunch. The city was founded in 588 BC on the right bank of the river Viosa, 10 km from its mouth in the Adriatic Sea. Apollonia was a fortress and trading centre from which the southern arm of the Roman trade route Via Egnatia set off in a north-easterly direction. During World War I, the Austro-Hungarians began archaeological excavations in the area, continued by French archaeologists after the creation of Albania. Excavations revealed a 6th century BC temple and theatre, as well as ancient streets, mosaics and more. The current museum in Apollonia was opened with the help of a UNESCO Joint Programme - Culture and Heritage for Social and Economic Development. Next, visit the modern and welcoming resort of Vlora, a popular tourist destination offering wonderful conditions for seaside relaxation and a relaxing holiday. Vlora is the second largest port and the third largest city in Albania. It is situated on the Adriatic coast, picturesquely perched on a bay of the same name. Vlora's strong position as a resort is complemented by the fact that there is a ferry route between it and the Italian maritime and port towns of Brindisi and Otranto in Puglia. Valora was founded as an ancient Greek colony in the 6th century BC under the name of Aulon. The name of the city in Bulgarian and Italian is Vallona. This was also the name of the town in the Middle Ages. We visit the central part, with the Independence Square, which houses the building of the First Independent Albanian Government - today the Independence Museum. Free time for an independent walk. Return to the hotel around 19:00.

In the 10th century, a temple of the Holy Trinity was built on the site of the pagan temple. On 21 July 1451, Skenderbeg was married in the monastery to Donica Castriotti. This memorable event was attended by all the participants in the so-called League of the Light, as well as representatives of the Kingdom of Naples, the Republic of Venice and the Republic of Ragusa. The main church of the monastery was painted by the famous icon painters of Corcia, the brothers Constantine and Anastas Zograf in 1744.
