It offers an amazing combination of ancient history and culture, unadulterated beauty, warm and welcoming people. It is remarkable for its fortress, which houses an ethnographic museum housed in a typical 18th-century house and the Skenderbeg Museum, dedicated to the national hero and his exploits. Explore the traditional Albanian market with small souvenir shops, authentic wooden buildings and numerous cafes. Depart for Tirana, the capital of Albania. Guided walking tour of the city in Bulgarian: the central Skenderbeg Square with the monument of the Albanian national hero who in a short time managed to achieve the independence of Albania from the Ottoman Empire in the fifteenth century, the mosque of Ethem Bey - one of the most valuable buildings, which dates back to the late eighteenth century. The ancient Clock Tower, government buildings and the Presidency, the National Assembly, the Town Hall are also located here, alongside numerous cosy restaurants and cafes. On the other side of the square are the country's largest museums, including the National History Museum, which is decorated with a huge socialist mural of victorious partisans. Duras - Berat - Duras
Breakfast. Optional excursion to Berat and Duras /additional surcharge/ with a guide in Bulgarian. Departure and guided walking tour in Bulgarian language in Berat - which is a designated city-museum and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is popularly nicknamed "the town of a thousand windows" because all the houses of the old town are situated on the slopes of Mount Tomor and "look out" on the new town. On the hill rises one of the largest fortresses in Albania - Kale, which is a kind of stone archive of different historical eras and is connected with Bulgarian history. The legend of the fortress tells about the two giant brothers Tomor and Spirag who fell in love with the same maiden. In an effort to win her heart, they began to quarrel, and the gods became angry and turned them to stone. The maiden was distressed and began to weep, and from her tears flowed the river Osam, which divides the city between the two mountains. The atmosphere of old Berat has a special comfort of a bygone time, where life flowed as slowly as on cobblestones, and the very walk along these streets is like a journey through time. The houses are beautiful, old, even the new houses being built must have the typical style of the town. Distracting are the hand knits and embroideries hanging on the dhows for sale. Walking around the outside of the ramparts you will find a spectacular panorama of the new Berat, which you can support with a drink in the authentic cafes. For lovers of art and history, the old town offers beautifully preserved frescoes from the 14th-16th centuries in the churches of Sts. Constantine and Helena", "St. Our Lady of Vlaherna" and "St. Nicholas." The Onuphri National Museum houses an exhibition dedicated to Albania's most famous 16th-century zoographer. Tour of DURAS /additional extra charge/ - the most ancient city on the territory of today's Albania, its capital during World War II when the country was occupied by Italy, and today it is the second largest city, the largest Albanian port and sea resort. In the past it was within the borders of the Bulgarian kingdom, which is why it was called by the Slavic name Drach. Interesting sights are the ruins of the fortress wall, the amphitheatre from Roman times, the Fatuh Mosque, the cultural centre, and the old military bunkers around the beach. Walk along the beautifully lit promenade. Return to the hotel. Free time for walks and rest. Dinner. Overnight.
