Marrakech – the Pearl of the South, a true tale of 1001 nights, an oriental rhapsody in red hues. Founded in the 11th century – the second imperial capital – an amazing city, with its Islamic and Arab architecture.
“If you want to get to know Morocco but only have one day, spend it in Marrakech,” said Winston Churchill.
Bright colours, various scents and fragrances, a maze of tents and souks, magic lamps, monkey and snake trainers, henna messages written directly on the skin – the exoticism of Marrakech will transport you to the world of “1001 nights”.
The Pink City will immerse you in its love tale where even commerce is romance!
We will see the Koutoubia Mosque – the largest mosque in Morocco- the icon of Marrakech. Legend has it that the beloved wife of Emir Yaqoub al Mansour donated all her gold jewellery, which was used to make the spheres at the top of the minaret. She did this to atone for a sin… Not what many immediately think. She simply drank a glass of water during Ramadan and thus broke the sacred fast.
We will pass by the commercial shops full of quaint oriental goods, where the magic happens.
A visit to the colourful Gemma El Fna Square, a square teeming with life, with atmosphere, scents, aromas and colour, where charm and joy are everywhere.
